Ivy League Kicking Camps: Everything You Need To Know
This guide will give you peace of mind going into Ivy League specialist camps this summer.
Prep Work: Winter Junior Year
To really have a chance going into the Ivy camp circuit, you need to have engaged with these coaches via a few Junior Days in February, March and April. The Junior Days get you on the recruiting board, but the summer camps decide the order of those names on the board.
If you didn’t do any Junior Days leading into summer camps, you’re not dead on arrival but you’ve got a few more steps to climb than the kids who did. You will need to blow the doors off - academically and athletically and personality-wise - at these camps to leapfrog players who these coaches may give more of the benefit of the doubt.
Most Ivy League Junior Days are open sign-up. You can simply sign yourself up. It will be a zoom session run by a coach to give you the overview of their program. And, then they will have visiting dates for spring football practice later on (almost all Ivies do spring ball late as most don’t have indoor facilities).
But, it is always better to be directly invited to attend these events than it is to show up “cold” via a self sign up.
